Isaac quickly became a part of the Willmer-Shiles family after Pearl and Isaac started dating at the end of their senior year in high school 2014. Pearl had a pack with one of her friends that they would not start dating until after high school but Isaac’s charm and wit broke through to Pearl’s heart. Bryan (Pearl’s dad) would say, whenever he had the chance, that Isaac was simply the best partner he could imagine for his daughter. Their bond, love for each other and mutual respect for each other’s friends and family was to be admired.
Isaac was folded into all kinds of cooking and dining events with our family. He helped make plum jam and design and building a gingerbread house. We had many gatherings of their friends in our home always center around cooking. Our Brooklyn visits always included Pearl planning fun places for us to take them out to eat both high and low brow: dim sum in Chinatown or a German beer garden for sports watching to restaurants of note in the foodie world.
Visiting the Sierra’s is a favorite of both the Zimmerns and our family. Floating the Yuba River was a favorite pastime of both Isaac and Pearl. California's beauty and fond family memories pulled them back to SF each summer from their work and careers on the east coast. We are so grateful for that.
Their love of life, full of so many adventures and honest and respectful commitment to each other fills us with joy.
With Love from Sarah, Bryan and Nick
